Basic Scaffolding Course – Clustered Scaffolding and Hoist Operations

The Basic Scaffolding Course is a nationally recognised, industry-focused training program designed to equip participants with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed to safely erect, alter, dismantle, and work with basic scaffolding structures. It also covers the operation of personnel and materials hoists commonly used on construction sites.

This comprehensive course clusters two essential high-risk and plant-related units, making it highly relevant for residential, commercial, and civil construction environments. It’s ideal for individuals starting their careers in construction, labourers working around scaffolding and hoists, and workers looking to formalise their skills and enhance their job prospects.

While completing this course demonstrates competence in the required skills, obtaining a license requires an additional step. After successfully completing the course and being assessed as competent, participants must apply for the appropriate High Risk Work Licence through their state or territory’s work health and safety (WHS) authority, in accordance with applicable regulations.

Units of Competency

Participants will complete two (2) essential units consecutively:

  • CPCCLSF2001 – Licence to Erect, Alter, and Dismantle Scaffolding (Basic Level) – 5 days
  • CPCCLHS3001 – Licence to Operate a Personnel and Materials Hoist – 3 days

These units are highly sought after for site access and support roles, providing participants with the foundational skills and qualifications needed to excel in scaffolding and high-risk work environments. Together, they form a solid base for advancing into more specialised scaffolding or high-risk work training programs.

Course Delivery

This course is delivered through a structured, face-to-face program at our Virginia Training Centre, supported by online assessments completed during class. The eight-day schedule is as follows:

  • Five consecutive days – Training and assessment for CPCCLSF2001 (Licence to Erect, Alter, and Dismantle scaffolding – Basic Level)
  • Three days the following week – Training and assessment for CPCCLHS3001 (Licence to Operate a Personnel and Materials Hoist)

Training takes place in a purpose-built, realistic environment using industry-standard scaffolding systems and hoist equipment. Online knowledge assessments are supervised by trainers, ensuring full support throughout the process.

The course includes practical assessments and concludes with the National Assessment Instrument (NAI) for licensing, as required by regulators. Small group sizes ensure personalised instruction, hands-on experience, and ample time to develop essential skills.

I found Premier Standards to have a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The admin staff were extremely helpful getting me the best deal with chosen machinery and with the initial setup of accounts theory and all communication's. I'd recommend this company for training as it provided me all I seeked and the eagerness to do more.
